Iraq

The painting contains simple visual objects to describe the Iraq War.
The victim has no eyes since most of the people killed or maimed never
see their attackers. Similarly a weapon can be seen pointing at the
person but who is holding the gun is unknown. Many of the victims have
been civilians and their vulnerability is shown by the naked exposure
of the heart and major blood vessels. The red ring below the nose is
blood. The victim's hand has a large hole in it representing the
disintegration of Iraqi society. Finally a burial site has a cross
with a soldier's helmet to remind us that this is in part a religious
war.
